Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy Ingredients:
- 1 lb (500g) ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs1 egg
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp mustardSalt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
Directions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
- Shape the mixture into 4 oval patties.
- Warm olive oil in a huge skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the patties of the beef and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, include butter and cut mushrooms. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until mushrooms are tender.
- Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir well for 1-2 minutes to cook the flour.
- Slowly pour in the broth of the beef, blending always to avoid lumps.
- Add soy sauce and bring to a simmer. Return the beef patties to the skillet and simmer in the gravy for 10-15 minutes, or until cooked through and the gravy has thickened.
