Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (500g) ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs1 egg
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp mustardSalt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

Directions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into 4 oval patties.
  3. Warm olive oil in a huge skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the patties of the beef and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until browned. Remove and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, include butter and cut mushrooms. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until mushrooms are tender.
  6. Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir well for 1-2 minutes to cook the flour.
  7. Slowly pour in the broth of the beef, blending always to avoid lumps.
  8. Add soy sauce and bring to a simmer. Return the beef patties to the skillet and simmer in the gravy for 10-15 minutes, or until cooked through and the gravy has thickened.
